The march toward the 2010 Sundance Film Festival has taken another giant step with the announcement of the lineups for the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions.

Sundance is one of only five festivals each year which I always attend sight unseen -- that is, regardless of what the lineup is (the others are SXSW, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Tribeca). As always, I will be posting reviews of the films, along with pictures and videos of the actors and filmmakers I meet. Most screenings are attended by the cast and crew. They always stay afterward for a Q&A and the audience gets a chance to sit with and then meet them. There is occasionally an afterparty as well.

The numbers are impressive. According to the Sundance Institute, 112 feature-length films were selected representing 38 countries by 43 first-time filmmakers, including 24 in competition. These films were selected from 3,724 feature-length film submissions composed of 1,920 U.S. and 1,804 international feature-length films. 79 films at the Festival will be world premieres.

"Being a seasoned programming team and having the support of a healthy organization afforded us the ability to take risks and re-think all programs this year so we chose to do some things a little bit differently," said John Cooper, Director of the Sundance Film Festival. "We believe this makes for an exciting festival that responds to both artist and audience, one that will invigorate the independent film community."

Many high-profile titles are included in today's announcement, including the newest film from the world's hottest young star. It's hard to imagine a more highly anticipated film than Jake Scott's Welcome to the Rileys. Son of Ridley and nephew of Tony Scott (both producers on the film), Jake's film boasts an all-star cast including James Gandolfini, Melissa Leo, and the ubiquitous Kristen Stewart. One would be hard pressed to be unaware of Ms. Stewart given her presence in the record-shattering Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon, currently approaching $500 million in worldwide box office. Welcome to the Rileys would most certainly have generated buzz regardless, but I'm sure the filmmakers don't mind the added attention from Kristen Stewart's international notoriety.

Producer Giovanni Agnelli has been uncharacteristically approachable to fans on the film's IMDb message board, even providing photos from the production. The Twitterverse (or Twiverse for Twilight fans) has been abuzz for months about whether or not the film would be accepted into Sundance, and no doubt the buzz will turn into a cacophony momentarily. It also seems reasonable to assume that most, if not all, of the cast will be present at the World Premiere.

But that's just one...stay tuned for more film previews. The short films will be announced next Monday, December 7. The 2010 Sundance Film Festival takes place from January 21-31 in Park City, Utah. In the coming weeks I'll be posting more of my selections and recommendations. And you can rest assured I'll be putting all these competition films on my list.

I also read that you had instructed Kristen to do that scene one way and then got a wet suit on and got into the water yourself and realized it was an impossible way to tackle it.

Rob had done this underwater work in one of the Harry Potter movies, so he was relatively comfortable doing things at the bottom of a pool. In order to get this shot right, we needed to get a top shot of Kristen as Bella sinking down in the ocean. The best way to do that is to have Kristen at the bottom of a 12-foot pool weighted down, just sort of floating there immobile. And Kristen was already expressing a bit of concern about deep water, and I told her, "12 feet isn't that deep!" [Laughs] I decided to go down there in a wet suit weighted down and I started to panic.

I thought, "Holy crap, this isn't fun at all!" and realized Rob actually had some guts and that the rest of us should really stay up towards the top of the pool. We adjusted it so we could make our shot sideways and it looks just the same as a top shot. And Kristen had a cold that day, so that was the last thing I was going to do — put someone with a cold at the bottom of a 12-foot pool with weights in their pockets. That didn't seem like a wise move.

back-stabbing slut faced ho-bag
ON A small round table rests a tall glass of Coke and a thick ashtray.

A pale white hand choked by leather wrist-bands reaches down and stubs out a cigarette.

Its owner coughs a little.

Surely that's not Bella Swan, the pure and innocent heroine of the teen film phenomenon Twilight?

She turns around and peels off her trendy black Ray Bans to reveal her fierce green eyes.

Now there is no mistaking her.

This is Kristen Stewart, the 19-year-old Los Angeles actor who, with one stroke of casting genius, achieved teen idol status alongside her heart-throb co-star Robert Pattinson in the wildly popular vampire romance franchise Twilight.

The trio said to be negotiating contracts in tandem.

Much as the success of the "Harry Potter" film franchise turned the once-unknown Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint into internationally famous and extremely wealthy movie stars, a similar route to lifelong financial security is clearly in the cards for "Twilight"/"New Moon" stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

As the trio approaches negotiations for what may be two films based on the Breaking Dawn novel in author Stephenie Meyer's vampire saga, word has it Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner are joining forces to negotiate as a team. The story is reminiscent of the approach taken by "Friends" stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc -- who famously stuck together for all of their contract negotiations in that hit TV series' long run.

Though nothing is yet on paper, there is word the huge box-office hauls of both "Twilight" and "New Moon" -- and the likely success of "Eclipse," already shot and due in June -- has the three actors likely to be able to demand paychecks well into eight figures for the next two films.

By the way, a good source close to Pattinson and Lautner tells me the two young actors are "very amused" by all the stories flying around the blogosphere about an alleged big "feud" between the co-stars. While the two men couldn't be more different in real life, the Summit Entertainment insider says their relationship is truly a case of "opposites attract" and the two actors actually are extremely good friends.

Since donning the role of Bella in last year's TWILIGHT, life has become very different for the young actress A lot can change in one year. Kristen Stewart went from a relatively low profile actor to top of the teen hot list. I’m talking, of course, about her role as Bella Swan in the vampire epic, TWILIGHT. Since the release of the film, Bella has soared into that rare stratosphere of teen worship and tabloid fodder. But the nineteen year old has taken fame in stride, becoming more at ease with her new life in the public spotlight and people hanging over her every word.

“I think I’ve gotten a lot more comfortable with talking about myself and knowing that what you say people are really going to take into consideration and that always intimidated me so much that I minced every word that came out of my mouth,” says Stewart. “I couldn’t finish a sentence because I was so concerned about how it was going to sound. I didn’t want to come across insincere about something that I really love to do.”

It’s a whole new game for Stewart, but this isn’t the first time she’s been in the media. Stewart has been acting since she was child. She was on her way when before reaching her teens when she acted along Jodie Foster in 2002’s PANIC ROOM. But once Stephanie Meyer’s vampire adaptation came knocking, the rules were about to change completely.

The actress talks about her new hit movie and teases about the next film ECLIPSE Here’s a tough question for you: who knows Bella Swan, the young heroine of the TWILIGHT series, better than anybody else? Okay, so the correct answer is probably Stephenie Meyer. She did, after all, pen the series the films are based on. But a close second would have to be the person who brought Bella to life, Kristen Stewart. And with the second of the TWILIGHT series, NEW MOON now out in theaters and breaking boxoffice records, who better to ask than Stewart about the new direction her character has taken?

[Editor’s note: there are possible spoilers for those of you who haven’t seen the movie or read any of the books. Stewart does talk about events that transpire in the movie.]

“I’m very protective of (Bella),” says Stewart, emphasizing the point. “I feel a shared ownership. It’s weird. If you were talk about the character in a way that was not at all thought out or flippant I would be right there to say that you didn’t know what you were talking about. I’m so defensive of her.”

CelebStoner's No. 1 Stoner Starlet Kristen Stewart was voted the 35th Top CelebStoner by website readers. This comes on the heels of the Twilight and Adventureland star winning two MTV Movie Awards.

Kristen Stewart has said that New Moon co-star Taylor Lautner looked "so buff" on the set of the vampire sequel.

The actress told Sugar that she was happy the original cast members from Twilight returned for the follow-up.

Stewart said: "Taylor still playing Jacob was the coolest thing. It was under deliberation so I'm glad he did it. And he looked so buff!

"I saw the steady progression from Twilight Taylor to New Moon Taylor - but if I hadn't, I don't think I'd have recognised him."

Speaking about reports of her difficulties with hardcore followers of the franchise, she added: "No, I love the fans. I've never said anything negative.

"It's just not normal to be in a situation where there are thousands of screaming girls and you're their fodder. I thought they were going to hate me, but they love it! I love girls who are in love with me."
