Rob & Kristen Confirm They're Dating—to Oprah!

Oh Robsten, don't you know we have eyes everywhere?

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, and Taylor Lautner all taped an episode for The Oprah Winfrey Show earlier this week, to air May 13.

While some fans were treated to a special screening of Eclipse, the good stuff happened with the cameras weren't rolling.

Like when Rob and Kristen confirmed to Oprah backstage they are in fact dating:

"We were all briefed before the show how to handle the talent," says our source who works for the Big O. "Part of what we were told was that Rob and Kristen are dating."

Come again?

So here's how it went down:

Apparently, before Robsten and the gang went to tape the segment, they went over with Oprah what she was going to ask. O said she had to "go there" and gave Rob and Kristen the heads-up she was going to ask the big dating question.

Robsten and their people obviously said they wouldn't straight-up answer, no surprise there, so Rob, Kristen and Oprah came to a little agreement.

When asked, Rob and Kristen could totally give the coy nonanswer answer (Rob joked Kristen was pregnant, Kristen joked Rob was having the baby), and O wouldn't press it too hard on air.

On one condition—she wanted to know what was really happening.

Dishes our Oprah spy:

"Obviously Oprah had to ask something during the taping, but agreed beforehand she wouldn't be too hard on [Rob and Kristen] if they told her what was really going on. Both Rob and Kristen's people and Summit then confirmed ahead of time [Rob and Kristen] are together and are dating. One hundred percent."

At least O knows how to get it out of them somehow! And really, are you going to lie to Oprah? No way!

So that's the little agreement our fave couple settled on. They could get away with the deflected joking answer, but Oprah (and her crew) needed to know what was really up with them.

As for how the Twilight couple interacted behind the scenes? Let's just say it certainly wasn't as tense as it was in Vancouver!

"They weren't superaffectionate or anything," says our source, who was with Rob, Kristen and the cast the entire time they were at the show.

"Kristen seemed a little awkward and nervous, but Rob didn't at all. He was really friendly and was cracking jokes the entire time."

So is the confirmation to Oprah enough for you Nonsten's that Rob and Kristen (who arrived back in L.A. together this week, too) are still happily together? Of course not, didn't think so.

But for your entertainment, then, you can check out this twitter of an eyewitness who saw Robsten kissing and cuddling in the airport as they left Chicago together.

You know, just for giggles.

The idea of Oprah's people leaking anything is hilarious. She owns their souls and I doubt they would risk their lives and jobs to talk to Ted.

Does it really matter? It's not something that needs to be spelled out for people anyway.

I don't get the point of these types of articles. They're dating. It's done, it's known, that's all. Anyone that still questions this, there's no hope in life for them.

it would be nice to have confirmation cause i personally dont call them a couple even though i think they are.

bb its their private life they dont have the need to confirm their relationship to anyone specially the media , they are a couple because they show off behavior of a couple , cause i dont think Kristen would travel 14 hours to a small european country just to celebrate her birthday with a friend its common sense and logic

For heaven's sake, what is it with people's needs to know? Have the events of the past year completely slipped people's minds?

Kristen's said in various interviews that she keeps her relationship private. How come this is never enough for people? I wasn't aware that she owed it to the rest of us to write out a confirmation.

Do I believe Oprah knows definitively that the two are dating? Yes. I'm positive she was briefed before the interview however do I believe someone on Oprah's staff spoke to Ted's people? No. The truth of the matter is that unless the confirmation comes from either one of them it's not a done deal, you know. I mean, do I believe they're dating? Of course.

I agree completely. I think Oprah was informed before she asked, which is why she didn't prod further. Just like I think Jimmy Kimmel was aware before he asked, which is why he jokingly asked Taylor rather than straight-out asking them.

If they're dating, that's super! Either way, people need to learn to respect their privacy.

do we still need confirmation? are there still people who doesn't believe they are dating? (lets forget the exceptional delusional haters). Whether Ted really got this from O's people, so what? The whole world knows they are dating and they don't OWE anyone a confirmation even to their dearest fans, so lets RESPECT their wishes to keep their relationship private. It just goes to show how they value this relationship if they do not want it to be tainted with Hollywood crap that are invading this movie industry...

let's see: the nonstens site, you go on there, and everything is for PR. if they spent christmas, or his birthday, damn it IT IS PR! yeh no, maybe for them if those people became famous.
maybe we should all think of the nonstens and the ones who don't support them even when it's clear as day rob and kristen are together, that the people aren't included into this world. :)

The way I see it is that if some people still didn't believe it back when they spent her birthday together then they never will. The fact that they deflect rather than deny should be enough for people.

And clearly, no one really pays attention to what Kristen says in interviews. If she actually came out and admitted it then people would ask for more, and if they don't want to go into detail then good for them.

[info]kstewrocks

May 7 2010, 19:08:25 UTC 2 years ago

"And clearly, no one really pays attention to what Kristen says in interviews." like the other day, someone who actually came to agree with me when I analysed everything...yet, at first they were recommending how Kristen and Rob should confirm it as it would get better a few months down the line. It's as Kristen said, they'd pry more, and ask for more details. Then the paparazzi will never stop, and that's certain, not a maybe. It's a certain fact. Even if they die down and become less popular as they are now, paparazzi want moneyshots, they'd get them of anyone.

Oh please if anyone of Oprah's people leaked anything, she'd know. And probably eat them alive. Besides, this is Ted the Shithead - the one guy nobody of importance talks with, ever.

I rather believe that Earth is flat, than that Ted is writing about something that actually happened. :P

[info]sunlight_23

May 7 2010, 19:22:07 UTC 2 years ago

I just wanna point out that regardless of how reliable people think Ted is, Taryn's the one who actually accounted the info, and she's generally careful with what she reports.

[info]jmbfan

May 7 2010, 19:29:42 UTC 2 years ago

Are there people that still need a confirmation? Really? I dont need Ted's maybe or maybe nots to tell me whats pretty clear in front of my eyes:)

[info]kstewrocks

May 7 2010, 19:34:27 UTC 2 years ago

As I said in a comment up above to someone, there are still ones who don't believe. But I'm thinking, shall we all agree those types aren't worth the bother, aren't worth being included into who we see as people?
